Concurrent Experiential Workshop: Black Creek Community Farm

Wednesday May 15   01:00 PM to 05:00 PM (4 hours)
Black Creek Community Farm

Bus will depart from Evergreen Brick Works to the farm and will return to Evergreen Brick Works for Community Dinner. Please dress in comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.

This workshop captures how neighbourhoods build resiliency and community through collaborative initiatives around health care, food and culture. Co-led by Leticia Deawuo (Black Creek Community Farm), Cheryl Prescod (Black Creek Community Health Centre) and Anan Lololi (Afri-Can FoodBasket), this workshop will include a farm tour and open discussion around social determinants of health in the Black Creek neighbourhood. Anyone interested in well-being, local food production, and culturally appropriate healthcare provision in diverse communities should sign up for this workshop.

Experiential Workshops offer a way to see and experience aspects of the health and food system that are complex and not easily understood. One of the best ways to improve that understanding is to get out into the world and see new things through new eyes. This ‘seeing’ occurs as much through conversations with colleagues on the workshops as it does from the visits themselves.
