Melanie Goodchild is Anishinaabe (Ojibway), moose clan, and a member of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg First Nation in northwestern Ontario. She is a fellow of the Waterloo Institute for Social Innovation and Resilience (WISIR) where she lectures and is completing her PhD. Melanie is currently Senior Counsel, Indigenous Relations at the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) and has taught several courses on indigenous learning and reconciliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, Lakehead University, and the Banff Centre’s 2016 Reconciliation Summit
